This poor guy had bedbugs in his bed base. He threw away the mattress and bed to get rid of the problem.

Unfortunately not all of the bugs were in his bed when it was thrown away. A proportion of the bedbug population will live in furniture around the bed. In this instance the bedside draws.

The photo shows bloodspots around the draw runners. The spots are actually blood eaten, digested and excreted by the bedbugs.

This photo shows how much work has to go into treating all areas of the room. The bed has to be stripped. The mattress treated with insecticide that is specific for soft furnishings and mattresses. The bed base turned over so between the slats can be treated. The carpet and skirting boards treated with residual insecticide. All furniture in the room treated thoroughly. The paper backs behind the mirror have been treated with insecticidal dust.

This is a mattress dumped in the owners shared alley. The black spots on it are bedbug blood spots. It shows this bed had a heavy infestation of bedbugs. Now the bed and bugs are in the alley the infestation will migrate to the next food source. Extremely bad practise as your risking the health of your neighbours. Proper treatment should be carried out before correct disposal.
