Pest Control Wirral, Liverpool, Chester and Ellesmere Port.
A call this morning for rats in a kitchen. The house has stood empty for 5 months. The fridge and freezer had been emptied in preparation but they had forgot to empty the kitchen bin. Leaving food in an empty house is a big mistake. It will always attract pests. When I got there however it was not rat droppings scattered across the kitchen floor. It was fly pupae. Flies are similar to butterflies that they lay eggs which hatch into larva (maggots for flies, caterpillars for butterflies). When they are ready to transform into adults they pupate. This is what I found on the kitchen floor. Dozens of fly pupae. The food in the bin had gone off attracted flies, they had laid eggs, the eggs hatched in to maggots. Then the maggots had feasted on the food remains until all had gone then crawled away from the bin to pupate. No insecticide was needed for this call just a brush to brush them outside. The sparrows made a quick meal out of them.
