Mouse Tamper Proof Boxes
Pest Control Liverpool.
We are now moving firmly into the rodent season. The colder nights and less food in the environment are bringing mice and rats scavenging indoors.
This is a photo of tamper resistant mouse boxes with a rodenticide bait inserted on a spike inside each box. Each bait has got a different amount of rodent damage on it, some are almost entirely eaten with only a residue left in the box. This amount of bait eaten indicates much more than just one mouse.
Tamper proof boxes are used to protect children and pets from gaining access to the bait.

Field Mice and Breakback Traps
Mice can be treated for in many ways. One method is by using break back traps. They have many advantages.
1.) The dead rodent is removed from the property. Sometimes when baits are used the rodent can die in a hard to reach area and cause unpleasant smells.
2.) The type of mouse can be identified which helps in understanding the infestation.
3.) There is no poison left on site so no risk of accidental poisoning or secondary poisoning. Non target species can either eat the bait directly or eat rodents that have died from the poison.
4.) Foods that the mice are eating in a premise can be used as baits.
5.) Traps can be used without bait when the mice have well used runs between their feeding areas.
This is a photo of a field mouse that has been caught today in a customers house. She specified that she didn’t want any poison on site because both her cats and her dog eats mice. The traps were left down for a few days with a small smear of peanut butter on the trap plates. The traps have been left in till next week to ensure there are no more mice. The next step is for her to proof her house to prevent further mouse ingress.

Smelly House Thanks to Mouse
Pest Control Liverpool.
A customer called me out yesterday for mice in Liverpool. Over the last few weeks she had found mouse droppings in her kitchen and behind the couch. Now she had noticed a funny smell in the bathroom and decided now was the time to call in pest control.
An inspection of the house revelled droppings in the kitchen, lounge, garage, bathroom and roof void. The smell was coming from behind the bath panel. On removal of the panel hundreds of droppings were found but no signs of anything else.
The house had an access point for under the floor boards on the landing. After pulling back the carpet on the landing a mouse hole was found going under the floor boards.
On removal of the boards a mouse nest was found under pipework and a central heating pump. The nest was made of toilet paper dragged in from the bathroom (the pink debris to the side of the pump).
Looking down under the floor boards I could see the cause of the smell. A dead mouse about 3 metres away (difficult to make out on this photo). The dead mouse and nest were removed and replaced with baits to monitor/control any further mice in the house. All other areas were baited also.
